[re]Effect of "Level" Control

Someone wondered what "Level" control I was referring to. It's a
pushbutton on the front of the K2, right near the Keyer control. This
switch toggles (when pressed hard) between LO THR and HI THR. In the HI
THR position the band noise goes way down, while the desired signals stay
at the same level = VOILA, peace and quiet. Gotta tell ya, the rig now
sounds absolutely stunning. Guess everyone else knew about this, but it is
a revelation to me.

Only problem is that I am having so much fun, I don't want to turn off the
radio to so sleep. Been working 30 Metres all evening and the radio is
fabulously quiet now (at the HI THR position).

PS--Could this be a function of this particular rig?
