My experience with a homebrew AD9850 has been that there will be some
spurs, but they are acceptable. Also, the board (with a 80 MHz clock) sucks
power. However, it is nice to know exactly where you are on the band,
to have absolute stability from a cold start, and to have a very wide tuning
range. It's a compromise which makes sense to me for a non-portable rig.
