Introducing Newcomers, was "Looking It Up"

Of course I would not turn away anyone who wanted to learn about ham
radio. Why would I do that? Ham radio has been responsible for a long
and interesting career for me!

I would invite him in and give him a demonstration of my station. I
would spend as much time as necessary explaining what he had seen. I
would also explain that ham radio requires some technical knowledge, and
that to get interested in it further will require some study. Then I
would give him a basic book like ARRL's "Tune in the World" book and
ask him to read up a little and come back.

What would you do? Do you know a better way?
