I think the circuit you may be mentioning was from an
issue of Electronics Illustrated from March 1968. Here

I've got that issue around here somewhere - Electronics
Illustrated was a neat magazine - I especially liked
the cartoons by Rodriguez. Wayne Green had a column
along with Tom Kneitel - lots of wacky opinions ;)
