    the responses you get to this will be almost certainly be preference. i
learned how to send code on a straight key. in fact, i don't even own any
paddles. i tried them a few years ago and found myself going back to the
straight key because it was more comfortable to ME. so, to answer the
question, it was more difficult for me to use the paddles, but only because
i have learned and used a straight key.

    after a certain higher code speed, i am sure the straight key would be
very difficult due to hand movement. however, me not being a speed demon,
they work fine.

    the paddles i tried a few years ago were mfj. they could have been made
by anybody and i don't think i would have liked them.
