Speaking of laptops in a car. I read an article a
while back (in QST?) about how you can use 12 volts
with most laptops even though they call for a higher
voltage. My Canon laptop's power supply puts out 18
volts. I tried 12 volts instead and it worked fine!
Booted up and did all the usual stuff and what not.
The times before I always used an inverter with the
power supply that came with it when I was out in the
field. Had to put up with some RF noise from the
inverter when I did that. So being able to use 12
volts instead is going to be real nice.
