I received a number of replies about the QRM I experienced on the 30 meter
band last night. Several fellow hams from around the country heard the same
thing. An Australian ham heard repeating dits in the same general frequency
range, but I think that was something else. Several respondents reminded me
that we hams share the band as secondary users. I'm aware of that, but
merely wondered with whom or what we were sharing at that particular time.
I was not aware that a legitimate service would blanket a 21 KHz slice of
the band all at once.
