I think the rule of thumb to figure the load an RF amp wants to see, is
to square the supply voltage and divide it by 2 times the power output.
Can't remember where it's from, but the formula has served me well over
So for your example, if you're running a 12 volt supply and are
designing for 1 watt output power, looks to me like the amp will want to
see around 75 ohms as a load.
You may want to verify the formula before you start burning up
