Hi Jerry et al....like you say propagation is the name of the game...I
missed Rick but hung in there the full 2 hours "just in case" his signal
came up....sensing "defeat" but determined to hang in there because I have
worked foxii in the last minute of a hunt, I was looking at the icons on
my desktop and came across CWGet...well, looks like this would be a good
time to see what CWGet is all about while I'm listening for the fox...it
was VERY interesting to "see the show"....when Rick turned it over to the
hunters, the noise line would suddenly errupt with signals...Rick's signal
was below or at the noise line 99% of the time....once in a while, his
signal would pop up for a few seconds and then it was gone....I'm going to
do this again; follow the hunt using CWGet....you should see what a
signal like AMTOR (I think) does to the display...WOW!!...it was also
fascinating to watch the hunt going on and then see the entire "band"
fade away with no signals at all and then eventually "fade" back in and
once more I'm seeing the signals....I think I will be learning more about
what we're all having a lot of fun doing...overall, the decoding was very
poor....every now and then I would receive the proper letters & numbers,
which I confirmed by copying in my head...hmmm, seems the old "head" is
still better than the programs so far....when an individual signal was
strong the pgm would decode maybe 90%, depending on band noise...I can
only guess that the overall poor decoding was due to Mother
Propagation.......or I might have had the program set up wrong?...some of
the terms in the HELP files are new to me and so I have more
"understanding" to learn....maybe some knowledgeable person on the list
here could give us all a little course in an e-mail explaining the terms,
etc......I used to have a lot of fun copying calls when I couldn't hear
the fox so I guess this is another way to do something similar and have
FUN!....try it.....
