URGENT REQUEST: PACEMAKERS & HAM RADIO

Hi Folks.

My dad has been passing out occasionally (one a month) for a couple of
years (no, he doesn't drink too much).

Anyway, the doctors have finally decided that he needs to have a
pacemaker installed. He has told my mom that he doesn't want to get one
because he wouldn't be able to get near antennas, would have to give up
his ham radio hobby, etc.

Does anyone *know* the possible effects of ham radio on a pacemaker?
If it is a problem at normal 100 watt levels, does anyone know if QRP is
A-OK ?

I'm looking for either (1) something that has been published or (2) hams
with pacemakers that continue to operate.

If anyone can help me with either item, please send an e-mail directly
to jdolson@iserv.net

THANKS A LOT!

Jim
