Another 2N2/40 Lives!

Well, I finished my 2N2/40 this evening. It easily pumps out 2W with the
pot about 2/3 open. I suspect it would do about 3 but why push it. I want
to fine tune it to be sure I have the offsets right and maybe check the
output on a scope and then I'll try to QSO with it (also gotta listen a bit
more and get my copy speed up a little...it's been a long time since I did
any CW).

There is a bit of a pop in the audio on key-down and the sidetone is
LOUD!...enough to wake the dead, I think. The pop (thump?) I can live with
but gotta turn down that sidetone (suggestions, anyone?). I also have to
put it in an enclosure but will probably leave it nekkid on the bench for a
while.

It's a fun project and looks like it'll be a good rig to actually use. Once
I got all the parts together it was not much more difficult to assemble
than most kits. It all worked pretty nearly the first time, no major
problems. Hats off to Jim, Paul, et. al. for a great project.

C ya on 40...
