NMEA interface protocol?

Hi,

I am playing around with a Garmin GPS-75 unit someone bought for me and
was wondering, with all the GPS talk that passed here recently, if anyone
has the NMEA protocol details so that I can write some software to talk to
the GPS unit.

I would also like to know just how accurate the GPS time is if anyone
knows.

Finally, may I presume that the NMEA interface output is TTL compatible
or RS-232 compatible? Thanks. I know its a mouthful but at least my computer
time might be synced with the GPS time, if all this works out right. :-)
