Hi Guys:
I've seen a lot of complaints this am about qrm, rtty noise and lack of
propagation to the foxes qth.
As an avid dxer, I can tell you that the folks that are continuously calling
on freq know exactly what they are doing and its to get a reaction much like
we have seen today. Those that are unaware of proper practices don't read
the reflector, magazines or any other publication that discusses proper
procedures for dxing or fox hunting. So complaining here will solve
nothing. THEY DON'T READ! Someone noted that they were not QRP-L members
and wanted to send SWL cards, not! That will only inspire them becuz the
reaction is what they live for.
The solution: Do nothing! No reaction, no fun. Every dxer has learned that
recognising the fact that the jammer, lid or whatever name causing a problem
encourages them. Act like you don't hear them, it drives them nuts and they
will eventually go away.
Fox hunting is fun and sometimes propagation just isn't there, so don't
call! This is supposed to be fun! If it is a "have to" situation for you
then you are not having fun. I notice that a lot of people complaining
didn't get the fox. Those that did work the fox are exstatic. They worked
thru the crud and were successful. But, first they had propagation! Then
you deal with the qrm, etc.
Bottom line: Lighten up and have some fun and don't ever let a qrmer think
he is causing havoc, even if he is. IGNORE THEM!
Don't worry, be happy, 72/73 de W8SFF, Steve
