Hi Jim,
Our local club is about the same size as yours, but our activity is even
less. We're lucky to get a dozen at the monthly meetings. The weekly 2m
net has gotten so small that we often just drop it. And for field day 2
years ago, we had a few people come and go, but there was really only 2 of
us that "participated". And, last year it was dropped for lack of interest.
The obvious question here should be "what am "I" as a member of the club,
doing to change this??" I have been try to 'pull' people in to various
activities. Many of the local hams here are very 'anti-contest', so that
hasn't caught on very well. I have had some success promoting weak signal
VHF. And I'm still trying! I'll push for any activity, just to get people
'active'! Quite honestly, what I'm aiming at is organizing a whole new
club with what people I can get interested. Then maybe as the "others"
start seeing how much fun we're having, they'll pitch in.
And I am going to participate in Field Day this year if I have to go out
and set up all by myself!!
hmmm, might even be better that way!
