Denny,
I just received my EMTECH NW40, and am in the process of
assembling it. 2 reasons why I chose it. In my opinion there can't be
much difference in what is now the generic lineup of 602-1350-602-386/3
or 4 xtal filter. So the first reason is that the NW80 or 40 cover the
extra/adv/gen/n/t+ cw band. Most other units are limited to 40-60 kHz
and require shifting of freq coverage if you want to change segments.
The second is the variable IF bandwidth that lets you close down tight
if there is QRM but can open to allow you to hear a station that is
calling a few hundred Hz off your freq.
Of course you will hear other valid reasons for other rigs, but
just wanted to let you know mine.
