HR2600 Power Reduction

Does anybody on the list know of an easy way to reduce the power output
of a Uniden HR2600 10 meter rig. On Cw it puts out about 28 watts. I'd
like to set it to around 5 watts. I have the service manual and it looks
like I have to get in to the driver stage and play with the emitter
resistor unless I find an easier method.
