HW-9 xmit troubles

I put my HW-9 back on the air this weekend after over a year off. I found
that when I key it the freq starts a slow shift, producing a noticeable
chirp. Freq stability on receive is as good as an HW-9 gets, the problem
is only on transmit. I have the first edition of Mike Bryce's HW-8
handbook but found nothing in it that helped.

Has anyone experienced this one before? I haven't put my 'scope on it yet,
but will start poking around the BFO circuitry.
