Gang, someone else will probably furnish a full report, but This was so much
fun, I've got to give you my quick impressions.

Whoever said single sideband wasn't for QRP, didn't know what they were
talking about! Probably two thirds of our 500 or so contacts were 20M S.S.B.!!

Of course, we had two things going for us:
First, we had Knightlite "Sir Tiger", ("This is MY frequency") Andrew Lewis,
K4HQ (16 yrs old) manning the microphone most of the time. He played the
airwaves like they were a piano. It was indeed a sight to behold and a
sound to revere. When the QRO stations tried to take over the frequency
they were met by 5 solid watts of immoveable object. Inevitably, they gave up.

Second, it didn't hurt that we were a rare island, and as soon as we were on
the air we were posted on European packet, so hams all over the world were
listening for us on "our" frequency. We were evidently the first expedition
to Portsmouth island.

Propagation was not too good on the lower bands and we were not able to get
long runs going on CW. We did contact many familiar calls from this list,
several on more than one band.

Notable contacts: Alaska (Jim, AL7FS), Australia - (and those are just the
"A"'s)

I'll leave the full report to others - be sure to look for comments on:
* Raising the antennas (subtopics: Noodlemast, Roof climbing, phased verticals)
* Hale Bopp
* MREs
* Teamwork and compatibility (subtopic: short discussion concerning a
certain conservative senator from NC)
* Peanut butter sandwitches and Chili
* Dolphins
* Water temperature
* Snoring
* Personal Hygene
* Weather
* Gas
* Ferry/Marina

There will be pictures on one of the Webpages along with the full reports
later this week.
