Hi Gang,
Many thanks to the responses; all contained basically the same thought
that 'spurs' are involved. It makes sense that it would look good in
the dummy but ugly on the antenna.
No fancy test equipment here; will play a little by replacing the
tranformer before the final and maybe drop a ferrite bead onto the
base of the final to see what happens.
Will let you know the outcome.
