Hi Folks,
I guess I was a bit optimistic before I started as I printed out enough
log sheets to handle 100 QSO's. Didn't quite make it. I ended up with 26
QSO's in all. Nine on 30m and 17 on 40m. I worked 4 stations on both bands.
Things were so slow on 30m that I tried to carry on brief conversations
with some of the stations, just to pass the time. W4VZB told me he was
going to be buying a QRP rig when he goes to Dayton, so be watching for a
new one among us.
This list and the other operating events do help copying of weak signals.
My last contact for the night was with AB7TK. At first all I got was a 7,
after a dididumdumdidi, I got 7TK. I guessed and sent AB7TK? and my report.
Randy came back, still weak, but more copiable with my report. A
recognizable callsign is worth 6dB or more, all the more reason to be on
the air and operating.
Since I had been sending CQ QRP WAS all night long, my last call for the
night was CQ QRP IS de WZ2T GE. I was getting a bit goofy by then as it had
been a long day.

Station Description:
Rig: Kenwood TS-940s at 5 watts
Antenna: 80/40 Trap dipole up about 50 feet
MFJ Tuner and Keyer
Vibroplex Brass Racer Paddles
OHR SCAF Filter - Have I mentioned before I love this thing? If you don't
have one, get one during OHR's current sale. You won't be sorry, my Radio
Shack DSP isn't even used anymore.
I would be interested in hearing from the people I worked with info on
rig, antenna, etc. via private email.
Anyway, here's the log, I will answer all direct QSL's via US Mail, no
need to send SASE. I'll wait about a month or so and answer the rest via
the USA QSL Buro.
