I will recomend the NorCal 40A. It is a very well designed rig, easy to
construct (Complete too!)and a very good performer. This is currently
being sold by Wilderness with a few improvements. My 40A was one of the
Club kits and my first QRP kit. There is one mod you may want to do as
you build your kit and that is to use a 10 turn 10k pot for finer
tuning.

My 40A is still performing. I have taken it on everywhere in my travels,
one of which was Hawaii where I snagged a 1000 mi/watt award (2317
mi/watt)
with 2 watts and a wire antenna off the back side of the condo in Kona.
Others have worked DXCC and WAS with them, I think you will enjoy this
fine rig for many years to come.
