Does it do it with the antenna disconnected?
Does it do it when operating from a battery?

This may be a reach, but I remember reading in a QST, about
QRN from a neighbors' doorbell xfmr. They had removed the button on the
front door and twisted the wires together. Xfmr overheated and it's
internal overload-protect-contacts opened, with an arc. Xfmr cooled
down and the same thing would happen, over and over.

Thermostat on the fish-tank heater?
Left the electric blanket turned on?
Weeds growing up against the electric fence?

Gud luck,

YOU WROTE:

I have noticed something with my HW-8, it's kind of
strange....hoping someone can sove this riddle?

ONCE A MINUTE, particularly at night, I get about a
10 second hit of heavy static - it fades in, and then fades
out...(Usually when a person is sending their callsign
& QTH)

I can't figure it out...I've even timed it - and the static
last between 7-10 seconds, and after fading out comes back
in again about 30-40 seconds later.
