Eric does this happen only on the HW-8 or do you hear it on other receivers?
If only on the HW-8 I would check for a component that is breaking down. If
you hear it on other receivers then I may be something in the house that is
on a thermostat. A heater of some kind. Maybe your doorbell transformer is
overheating due to a shorted turn and the thermal cutout is tripping out at
that rate. The best thing would be to kill all the power in the house and
see if the noise goes away. If so then turn on the power a breaker at a time
and see when it comes back and go from there. If it only happens at night
then look for an light that is on a photo cell, maybe a streetlight. Hope
you find it easily. 72/73 Jim K4CGY qrp-l #72
