If you would be running your Novice/Tech+ 48S near a PC
be aware of Ori's comment that there may be hash from your PC if
using the 14.3... Mhz xtal for the IF and filter. I checked my PC and
did find a tone on that frequency from my PC but it was not a strong
signal (I don't have the cover on my PC screwed down v. well but the
cover is on). The other thing is that the 14.31818 is within the 20m
band so it could have an affect on an adjacent rig (???). I already
have the Xtal's on order and will probalbly give it a try anyway (though
I may see if I can fit in a crystal socket to mount the crystals to
simplify changing crystals and experimenting).

The possibility of 15.0 IF is a good one. This crystals are
readily available and will not receive garbage from your
PC, which uses a 14.3 MHz crystal...
This IF is a bit high, but it's a simple swap that should work.
I would expect the same range as a 38S, using the 6.2uH
seems to be the best as for getting down to 7.100 MHz.
Follow the other steps outlined in a posting last week about
a 48S (see below), re-tune the offset cap C21 and
experiment with C9, C10 and you should be in business!

L4 14 turns (.83 uH) C29 -> 820 pf
