Like many folks, I've often praised this list for the help, support, education,
and friendliness that it offers. I've just realized it has another tremendous
benefit -- avoidance behavior. Several months ago, after passing my General
written, I decided I really needed to knuckle under and work on my code speed -
heaven forbid.

Fortunately, before I spent too much time at this endeavor, word of the
forthcoming 38sp hit the list. After putting in my order, I spend many an
evening roaming various business establishments in an attempt to locate "the
ideal enclosure". Thus I was able to forego the unpleasant task of working on
code. The gods were good. Just as I ran out of stores to browse, the 38sp
showed up on my doorstep. Putting it together managed to keep me occupied for
several evenings. Oooops -- it doesn't work.

Now I was faced with two formitable tasks, upping my code speed AND
troubleshooting the 38sp. Fortunately for me, about that time Al Waller,
K3TKJ, posted an invitation to the list for us to come put up web sites on his
server for free. Whew! Saved again!! Yesterday I finished constructing my
first web site and put it up on Al's server (http://www.qsl.net/kc7khd). I
went home feeling kind of down -- got to do something about that
code/non-working 38sp. Again the gods blessed me -- my Rainbow Tuner was
waiting in the mail box.....................................thanks guys!!
