I have finished my 38S yesterday afternoon. The audio is quiet, and I did
not have two peaks. I know everyone says you have to have two peaks, but I
wanted to run it by everyone that the reciever recieves well. I hear many
stations. Before I remove a wind from T1, I wanted to say that that it
seems as if the reciever is working. Will removing a wind cause the
reciever to have two peaks, and recieve better? Another note, is that I
hear stations on both sides. Lower and Upper sides. If I read right in the
manual, it states that the audio filter filters this out?

The next question is when I key, I hear a faint sidetone. You have to
listen to hear it, listen well, and if their is any background noise in the
shack you will not hear it. Is this the way it is?

Other than that, the radio is appearing to work. I do not have a very
sensitive watt meter, but it's showing about 1/4 watt, the rf out looks
very nice on the oscope, sounds nice on the another reciever, etc.

I tried to call CQ a few times, with no luck. We will see what happens with
the reciever, then proceed to the 5 watt mod.
