Fifty States on Forty Meters:
I received clearance from Dan, KL7Y to operate his station on Saturday.
I will play on 20 meters (or higher...yeh, right) all day and around
0000Z I will begin taking 5 minute breaks on the half hour and hour to
see what is happening on 40 meters. When I start getting contacts, I
will stay on 40 meters. I do not expect to hear much at 0000Z but that
is a safe time to start.
I apologize for not printing a schedule, but there are too many
unknowns. Like I don't know when the band is open to the lower 48
states.
I will operate 40 meters until there are no more contacts for a period
of time. (I hope you all realize this is right at Star Trek and Babylon
5 times.....no problem, though....reruns)
There is a chance Dan is planning to put up an inverted-V at 125 feet
for 30 mtrs so I can get a signal into L48. His dipole (broken in a
recent windstorm) is optimized for Europe. For FSFM, I probably will
not confuse the issue with 30 mtrs.
I will shoot for 7.042 but please, please tune around. I will have to
dodge QRM but will try to stay put as best I can. I will try .062 for
other bands...same story.
Man, I am wordy.

Summary of KL7Y:
31 airline miles from my QTH but exactly 60 miles driving. His QTH is
across a body of water from me.
15 meters = 5 elements over 5 elements (Hygain 155 Long Johns) at
125 and 72 feet.
20 meters = Hygain 205 (5 elements) at 125 feet
30 meters = Dipole at 100 feet (unfortunately it is E-W so pattern
is North-South)
- Maybe soon an Inverted-V at 125 feet for East West.
40 meters = 3 elements at 125 feet
80 meters = slopers (phased)
160 meters = Inverted V at 150 feet.
