Have decided to part with my beloved TenTec ARGO 556 (*not* "ARDO"!).
Several guys are considering buying the rig, but no one has made a firm
offer.
The ARGO 556 is a great rig. With this one I have worked 31 countries
and 48 states QRP in the six and a half months since I bought it new
direct from the factory. I am moving toward HB and kit-built gear, and
need funds.
The rig is in absolutely pristine condition. It has never been operated
outdoors or in field or mobile settings. It was recently completely
realigned and tweaked by at TenTec.
Here's the package: the basic rig, plus band modules for 80, 40,
30, 20, 15, 12 and 10 metres. Includes the factory-installed noise
blanker and microphone. The ARGO has one of the best QSK's in the
business, and includes a built-in keyer with adjustable front-panel
speed control. TenTec also has modules for other bands, including 17.
Nominal output is 5w CW or SSB on all bands, but this can be lowered if
desired. The band modules permit *full coverage* of each band, not
just a slice--from the bottom of the CW portion clear up to the top of
the SSB section. The receiver is extremely sensitive and selective,
truly a joy to use. Audio output is powerful and undistorted.
