Hi gang.
Well, allow me to let the cat out of the bag just a bit.
The Columbus QRP Club (CQrp) is in the prototype stages of a new kit.
Here are the preliminary details. Nothing is written in stone yet. This
is just an FYI to see what interest level is out there. We need to know,
should the kit get that far, how many kits to initially produce.
Kit Name: CQrp Mini Rx Receiver - CQrp MRX
Description: 40 meter VXO Oscillator receiver (matches the Micronaut
Transmitter)
Designer: Steve Bornstein K8IDN
Size: 1" X 2" board (approx 3/4 inch high when populated)
Tuning: Approx. 2 1/2 KC around 7040
Approximation of kit cost: $18.00 for the populated board and
connections to the outside world (i.e. jacks) shipped to your door
continental US. This estimated cost does NOT include any ENCLOSURE.
The prototype of this kit really sounds FB and would indeed make a great
addition to anyone who owns a Micronaut, or would like to have a VERY
small receiver for field day ops, backpacking, hiking, as a back-up field
day receiver, whatever. The point is, it is a small receiver that really
sounds great.
More details will follow when and if available. Preliminary plans are to
have the project kitted and ready to go by early/mid summer.
Please let me or k8idn (saborns@freenet.columbus.oh.us) know if you have
interest. We will also post pictures of the prototype to the CQrp web
site within a week or so.
Thanks.
Best 72/3
