The transistor is 50 years old this year.
It was invented by Bell Labs (now Lucent
Technologies) in December, 1947.
It costs a million times less to make one
today than 30 years ago.
The inventors had no idea that this humble
invention might become as important as the
"wheel". The transistor is the invention
of the century, and no one appreciates it
more than the QRPer.
