I performed Bob Barry's Ground and bypassing regimen last night. In
addition I referenced both C14 and C38 to +8 instead of ground (remember
to respect the polarity of C38) as suggested in an earlier post.
RX Offset stability
My receive offset is now nearly constant across the band. Before the
changes, it varied about 200 Hz as I tuned across the band. I had
adjusted C21 down to 40 pF as the best compromise value. After the
changes I found 54 pF was the best value. Now my RX offset is only about
20 Hz off in the middle of the tuning range and right on at the ends.
RX Noise reduction
I had noticed there was noise on the audio output that was independent
of the RF gain control setting. After the changes, this is SIGIFICANTLY
reduced. I should have measured it before I made the changes, but I was
too lazy.
Thanks, for all the ideas.
