Tim -
Do you have your 38 Special cased in a grounded metal box ??
The reason for asking is that I had a foreign broadcast problem with my
SW-160 from Dave Benson. Dave chose an IF for 160 meters that was within
about 5 Khz of a strong BC station in Florida. Just about sundown everyday
I'd start hearing this station everywhere on my radio dial - with or without
antenna. The station was getting into the IF directly - I put the circuit
board into a steel tin and the interference vanished. It doesn't have to be
a perfect shield - I just put it into a coffee can at first without a metal
lid just to see the effect and it took care of the problem.
Another fellow with the same radio didn't notice the BC station at all - it
really depends on location and signal strength.

Chuck
