Guys, don't forget April 26th is the date for the QRP To The Field contest
sponsored by NorCal, with Bob Farnworth, WU7Y as contest chairman. The
theme for this year's contest is to operate from places where strange
phoenomena have occurred. In honor of this, four hardy souls, Ron Stark,
Bob Follett, Paul Harden and Doug Hendricks will be operating from Area 51
in Nevada. We will be calling CQ51 for as long as the authorities let us
on the contest day. If you are able to work us, you will receive a
commemorative QSL that Paul Harden is designing. We will all be operating
at the same time, with stations on 20, 40 CW, and 20 SSB. Please listen
for us. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good frequency for 20 SSB?
The CW stations will work around the QRP calling frequencies of 7.040 and
14.060. We will be using Vern Wright modified St. Louis Verticals and
possible dipoles, if we can find supports. Hope to work you on QTTF 97.
