Nothing about my comments was meant to be personally critical Mike. But you
most certainly can manage to get the pins in contact with each other-and
that is all it takes for nicads. Besides which, that is not the point. The
point is that for anything more than a couple of amps (OK, maybe 3 or 4A is
OK) Molex connectors are a poor choice, period. My understanding of most
modern mobile rigs is that they run 40-50W output, and therefore probably
require a minimum of 75W at 12VDC. That is over 6 amps and-I repeat: for
that current, ordinary Molex is a poor choice of connector. The
specifically designated Molex power connector line-at twelve amps
capability per connection-would probably be ok-but that is not the
'standard' that was recommended.
