But of course, however, QRP entries are noted in the
results and they are discussing adding a QRP entry class.

Yes, and this seems to happen more frequently in VHF
contests, also.

Semantic issues aside, the goal statement or stated
purpose for many "contests" is to "contact as many
radio amateurs as possible" within the rules etc...
Something else is not a contest (by definition), but
it may well be FUN!

I won't disagree and I think I'll have fun in QRP
events, but there are also opportunities in existing
mainstream events, too.

Many of the hardcore operate a couple weekends a year
during major contests (and that is it). Personally,
I get on occasionally to just casually operate. It is
becoming difficult, though, as there are literally multiple
"contests" EVERY WEEKEND!

Last year I entered the June VHF QSO Party (mountaintop)
and the ANARTS (VK) RTTY Contest (from home) in the same
weekend... Won a certificate for ANARTS, too! Trying
to do this sort of thing can kinda burn you out!

Maybe it is just semantics? What is a contest?

Maybe more "operating events" would be more welcome than
yet another "contest" if you follow my meaning?

Such an event should have "FUN" as the stated goal. Oh,
and EVERYBODY WINS...

But, the spirit of healthy competition does so motivate us...
