Jim Cates is a wonderful friend. I asked him about a year ago to help me
find a nice Argonaut 515, and he came through a couple of weeks ago.
Yesterday the UPS guy brought a dream come true package, my Argonaut 515
Transceiver. This one is in absolutely mint condition, not a scratch or
mark on it. Pristine, original manual, original box. Plus it came with a
matching power supply, and a speech processor. The price? $475.00
delivered via UPS. The neat part about it was that my wife paid for it as
an anniversary gift. What a woman!!
I have wanted one of these rigs ever since I heard about one in my early
reading about QRP, perhaps in Ade Weiss' column in CQ. Last summer I got to
operate one during Field Day, and that was a pleasure. Now, I have my own.
Thank you to Jim, and thank you to Brad Hutton for selling it to me. By the
way, this radio has worked DXCC SSB!!
Some of you may remember that I bought the matching microphone at Dayton
last year in the hospitality suite. Paid $70 for it, from an estate, but
that's another story. I will try the rig out tonight, and if you here
KI6DS, you know there is a smile on his face in the desert. 72, Doug, KI6DS
