I would like some thoughts, advise, or suggestions for an automatic
antenna tuner. I would like to make an ATU to sit out at the bottom of
my tower instead of sitting on the bench of the shack, to tune my
antenna. Has anyone done this and is it worth the effort to try to
accomplish ?
If so, has anyone got any suggestions on any kits out there in the
market or an articles on such a project ? What are the pro and cons
of this idea? My requirements are pretty simple(I think),
I would like something to handle a maximun of 50 watts power,
( just in case my daughter or wife fires up the Argossy instead of
the Argounaunt II), and be able to tune 1.8 - 30 mhz. I would
like something that draws very little power 'cause my tower is about
50-60 feet away from the house and I will need to run the control
voltage throught the conduit that has my coax for the antenna and
there isn't a lot of room left in the conduit, so I will need to run
fairly small wire.
Any suggestions can be E-mailed to me directly to save chatter on the
net.
I will thank everyone in advance because if I get the input on this
that I received on the last , I will be forever thanking everyone.
Soooooo, thanks to everyone for the input.
