        This thread has been interesting. I have "standardized" most of my
12 volt stuff with the 4 pin "regular" Molex connector. Why 4 pins? ICOM
used to use it and the positive was the "pointed" end, negative the "square"
end with the two middle pins being blank. I found that on HF rigs with more
current drain, it's easy to use the remaining two positions in parallel with
their adjacent pins for more current carrying capability. For QRP and VHF
stuff, I leave those pins out of the connector altogether.
The Molex plugs/sockets are cheap, reusable (with the proper pin extracter
and crimping tool) and readily available at most parts suppliers.
