Hi Dave

I gave well over a hundred novice cw tests in the pre-VEC days. A trick I
pulled regularly was to tell the testee "Before we start the test, I'll send
you a little bit to get you warmed up." I usually sent about 30 characters
or so at 5 wpm. Most of the time, the testee had everything copied perfectly.
They sure were surprised when I'd say "Congratulations, you passed!". The
usual reply was "What about the test?" and of course the answer to that was
that they had just taken it.
