IMHO, money spent on reference material is money well spent. While
some standard references are a little long in the tooth (e.g. Solid
State Design for the Radio Amateur), many of the ideas are as fresh as
the day they were first printed. And the theory doesn't change.

It appears that some people have forgotten that information is
sometimes most easily disseminated in books. Consider the odd notion
that somewhere on the net is a library of schematics for every kind of
project you could imagine (read rec.radio.amateur.homebrew for a few
days and you'll see what I mean). I have a pretty good facsimile of
such a library, but it's all on paper...

My 38S is nearing completion. The TiCK thinks its programming switch
is perpetually closed, so it whistles to itself and refuses to key the
transmitter. The receiver works just fine, but I need to sort the
tuning range.
