First let me say that for the most part I am in agreement with you.

I have 14 Copies on the reference shelf in this room. The earliest
is the 1943 Issue and the most recent is the 1996 issue.
I have several more in the Library, maybe even a few duplicates
that I had been saving for the visiting new kids.

I also like to get a new one now and then. However, there are a lot
out there who can't afford to spend the big bucks every year or
even every couple of years.

We are also fortunate in that we have several good libraries close
to us which have copies of the ARRL Handbook and a number of the
other ARRL Publications. I am a strong advocate of supporting our
local libraries and even school libraries by supplying them with
excess ham radio books.

The Foundation for Amateur Radio is based here in our area, so that
helps also. We should encourage all clubs to participate in the
QRP Friends of the Library plan. How about if we all write to
Wayne Green and inlist his support?

O.K., now for the at least one part where I disagree with your
posting.

All of the information which was recently requested was NOT to be
found in the ARRL Handbook. I know, because I went digging for it.
My friend Joe, N2CX asked about Numbered Drills in tthe range of
#50 thru #80. NO, It is not in the handbook on page 25.5 or any
where else. The handbook only went from #1 thru #54 sizes.

I checked several on my reference shelf. I also checked the Radio
Handbook by Editors and Engineers, 21st Edition, 1978.
It did not provide the information either. #1-45 only.

I did finally find the information in two other reference books.
The Radio Shack Electronics Data Handbook, Cat. No. 62-1085, dated
1986. I also found it in the QRP DATA BOOK by Paul Harden, NA5N.
I might point out that Pauls book has it all, except #79 .0145"
and #80 .0135" Those of you who have Paul's book please add this
data on Appendix: Drill Sizes page A1-DRILL.

Those who don't have Pauls book. I recommend that you order one
as soon as you can spare $20. It is definately worth every penny
of it.

OBTW, I forgot to tell that after all was said and done, I really
did not loose my GENERAL steel Machinists Ruler. Murphy hid it
from me. Guess he wanted me to look in the book. Always good
advice. I am sure most of you have heard the famous, "When all
else fails, look it up in the books". Strongly related to read
the instructions last? :-)

Funny how my ruler turned up when I no longer need it :-)
