Dear Keith & Friends,

Just for the sake of discussion on Keith's Sloper...

What do you have when you take a 1 wavelength wire and coax feed it 1/3
wavelength from one end through a 4:1 or, preferably 6:1, transformer...
or maybe even feed it with 300 ohm ribbon?

And how would this mysterious antenna I have just described differ (gain
and pattern) from the 1 wavelength wire directly fed with coax 1/4
wavelength in from one end?

And presuming one uses a metal support, 40 feet high, to hold up one end
of the 1-wave sloper... how would it compare, performance wise, to a 3/4
wave sloper fed against the 40 ft. metal support (maybe a tower)? Would
there be any difference in performance? And if the support is non
conducting... how would the 1-wave sloper compare to an inverted vee with
one 3/4 wavelength leg and one 1/4 wavelength leg apex at 40 ft.

Hint: How does the height above ground of the current node affect the
performance of the antenna?

Now for all of you who are splitting a gut... I'll leave the rest to your
imagination.

Martin W9XN QRP-L #998
