Fox Frustration

OK, I know it's mostly my own fault that I have been having so little
success in the Fox Hunt since Christmas. Changing circumstances have me
working late more often than not.

But at least twice when I HAVE been able to get down to the shack, the
fox has turned out to be a no-show. It will take me, typically, most of
an hour and a headache to figure out that I'm wasting my time; it's
particularly frustrating when I find out the next day, or the day after,
that he wasn't even there, or that he was a day late (on a day not even
listed on my "official" Fox schedule). Please do not misunderstand me--
I know the foxes have other things to do sometimes and people also
forget sometimes, but I wanted to document my frustration level to
perhaps add a bit of weight to the following suggestion....

Why can't each fox have a backup? Someone who is prepared to listen in
and fill the breach if the scheduled fox doesn't appear? I know if I
were a fox it would be easy enough to arrange for someone to cover for
me, and by the same token I'd be quite happy to cover for someone else
else.

Well, I've got my fingers crossed for tonight [g].
