Carrier Freq vs Display

Hi folks - I seem to remember a thread on
this a while ago, please just respond to me
directly, so as not to re-burden the group
with other things.

Here goes:

If I am receiving (for example) 10.000 mhz,
LSB, when I tune for zero beat, should the
'zeroed' frequency be 10 mhz even?, Then
when switching to USB, should I still be
at zero beat? If I use this scheme, it seems
that my display will always be my carrier
frequency.
             - or -
In USB mode, should it zero at 10.001.5 &
LSB at 9998.5?

Thoughts?

Please excuse the BW on a previously exhausted
subject.

Thanks,

Tim W5FN
