Well, I think the rules actually prohibit the sale of amplifiers intended
for use below 144MHz without a grant of type acceptance. You can't just
build an amplifier that only works to 15m and sell it without type
acceptance. It just so happens that one of the conditions of type
acceptance has to do with gain above 22MHz.

Do you know anyone that has actually had a 6m amplifier type accepted?
If I read the rules correctly, it is essentially impossible to get a
6m amplifier type accepted; the ones for sale now are covered under the
grandfather clause in Part 97.

There are exceptions to the type acceptance requirement that allows
amateurs to do commerce in non-TA amplifiers, and build/modify a
limited number of them.
