OK,

my dandruff is up.

Scott R. is suppose to be one of us, and here he goes spreading
nasty rumours, like it should be hard to actually work someone on
QRP/M. Sounds like the guy in QST who wrote those most appropriate
comments about the nerve of those guys with tiny signals actually
intefering with real ham radio.

Well guess this comes down to a psychological discussion. Much
like all the basic principals of developing positive self-esteem.
If you grow up and you are told over and over again you can't do
something, you tend to develop a very sophisticated network of
memories and notions that you can't do anything. Some people at
various times in their lives, stumble across the fact that these
conceptual frameworks may be somewhat warped.

Now my momma always told be I could do anything and do it better
than anyone else, if only I had enough desire. I didn't know any
better growing up and always believed her. Pretty much not much
has stopped me yet.

Well this attitude carried over to QRP. I had an Acura Integra, I
took out the glove box, mounted what use to be the top of a
toaster oven in its place. On top I bungy corded an Argonaut 509,
a small real "ugly" construction keyer and audio filter. I worked
both CW and SSB at from 2-4 watts. I used about every type of
antenna made in the years I ran it that way. I NEVER much had
trouble working anyone. Now when conditions were bad, SSB might
not have been the greatest. My believe is that if you aren't
overly choosy about who you talk to, you will be able to talk to
someone. I use to have the paddles strapped to my leg, while
driving a stick shift around town and work contacts on the way to
lunch. If the converstation got real good, I just pulled off
(since then all my cars are automatics :-)

OK Scott.. just a little humour.. nothing meant in any way bad :-)

have a gud'un

Jeff, AC4HF
