"The Letter"...What's the hubbub?

Frankly, I'm surprised and more than a little disappointed in you folks. Some
rock-headed jerk writes a letter, complaining about his poor receiver and how
he hates working signals less than S9+; it gets printed in QST, and all of a
sudden, you guys act like the whole world of QRP is ready to collapse.

Fer cryin' out loud! Isn't anyone allowed to have a differing opinion,
regardless of how unthinking or ill-informed it might be, without everyone
taking personal offense?

Suppose somebody came on-line and pronounced your favorite gear to be useless
junk, based on some sideways experience he had; knowing what YOU know about
the gear, and understanding where the original complaint came from, what would
you do? Would his posting cause you to dump the gear, or would you rather
shoot the messenger (in this case, QRP-L)?

Seems to me that the bottom line here is to let the guy be a jerk, write your
response to QST, and keep working QRP. AND QUIT WHINING ABOUT IT.

72/3 to all,
