Dear Bob and Friends,

Come on folks... eliciting E-mail from a teenager with an overactive
imagination... and then sitting in judgement over his responses... is
beneath us. Bob... does Adam know that you are distributing his comments
to the world via QRP-L? And does he know you are adding commentary?
This is very unfair to Adam if it happens to be the case.

Here is what I mean about his overactive imagination:

> Let me tell you about what I am used to. The station that I am used to
is located out >in Bolinas California, (17 miles south of Point Reyes)
and it's called KPH. Down
>there the transmitters all run AT LEAST 5KW to gain beams that bring the
ERP up >into the half megawatt range. I really agree with this method of
thinking. The ham >transmitter is a Collins 30K-5 which runs 200 watts
on 30 meters and 300 on 40. >The antenna that the Collins has is a 6
Megahertz Dipole, up 280 feet above sea >level. The masts are 80 feet
high, and the masts are stuck into a cliff. In a complete >circle around
you can see the sky meet the horizon. We are trying our best to put out
>the finest quality signal we can. That's where I derive my motto: "If
the front end isn't >crunching, then the signal is not strong enough"

Now remember... Adam just turned seventeen and has had his ham ticket for
a very short time. I'm sure he has been spending a lot of time as a
guest operator over at KPH. My guess is that he once went on a tour of
KPH on open-house day.

Since the obvious doesn't seem apparent to a few of the QRP-L gang... I
will be blunt. Adam is a bright young fellow who enjoys the attention he
gets when he role plays with boring old farts who are suckers for his
game. Now he has sucked some of you into E-mailing him and he is going
to spin you for all it is worth. Adam is laughing at you. To him, this
is a joke. By responding inappropriately, you have given Adam the most
fun he has had since he stomped a few QRPers up on 7037.

Children really get a kick out of making adults act just like they do.

>Seems to have confused quality with quantity.

Naw, Bob... Adam knows exactly what he is doing and saying. You got
sucked in. He isn't one bit confused. Now, perhaps, some of you will
understand why I advised that a thoughtful reply to QST was the best
policy... and why Adam's E-mail box should be left empty. Let's not be
compulsive and let Adam play us like well strung violins.

vy 73,

Martin W9XN QRP-L #998
