OK-new QST arrives; open to the picture page (I'm simple!), and I see some
young scouts running QRP ssb (OK, it says 12 w, but still...);down the page
is a nice picture of a bike qrp setup w/ a NN1G 30m radio used in
Switzerland-cool! I open to the lead article, and Hey! It's about the QRP
to the field sailboat trip the eastcoast guys did last April. Next article
is about a qrp inverted-l antenna tuner put together by the folks in Ohio
that came up with the "spider" qrp rigs. That's all within the first 25
pages-not bad for a magazine & organization that is a 'broad spectrum' ham
group. I feel pretty smug until somebody points out the short letter (I
usually don't even read this section!) that is obviously thrown in to
'shake things up' a little, and is written by a newcomer to the hobby. Now
guya are saying funny things like QST is 'slamming' QRP,etc.Well guys, if
this issue is a 'slam', then keep 'em coming! Be careful-you may get what
you wish for!
