Kite antennas?/FYBO

I would of liked to drive out onto a frozen lake up here in MN (ice still a
good 20 inches thick)and put up my kite with a long hunk of wire and work
some of the FYBO contest. However my son has a hockey game at 11 am, and
then its off the the local school carnival at 1:00, but I may try and get a
couple hours in late in the afternoon, depending on the weather/wind condx.
So hang in there and I'll give out MN as a mult.

Are there any kite flying qrp'rs out there?? If so what has worked for you
using a kite as a support?? I've put up a longwire with a tuner and my van
as a ground with pretty good results. The kite I use is a "Delta-Conyne"
which has plenty of lifting power to pull up lots of wire. One time I had
so much insulated wire up on a windy day that static arcs were jumping a
good inch. I know others have used kites, just have never had a chance to
exchange ideas.

Good luck, keep warm!

Thanks, 73/72's Jim...N0UR
